Making a positive
family mark beyond
everyday business

Working for the good of many has always been part of the Ahlström culture. In the early days, our investment went into industry development, which produced jobs, housing, and welfare in local communities. Today, we are expanding our horizons even further by making helpful contributions to the creation of a sustainable and thriving society.

Working for the good of many has always been part of the Ahlström culture. In the early days, our investment went into industry development, which produced jobs, housing, and welfare in local communities. Today, we are expanding our horizons even further by making helpful contributions to the creation of a sustainable and thriving society.

We support culture
to enrich society.

Over the years, our various group companies as well as individual family members have played a significant role in supporting, influencing, shaping, and financing the industrial design-, architecture-, and art scene in Finland.

Ahlström in Society is our platform for representing our joint engagement in a societal context. Strengthening the connection between our businesses and philanthropic ventures and social commitments, in Finland but also on an international scene

Making the world better for future generations calls for involvement, and for us, that engagement begins with coming together. By sparking dialogue, sharing knowledge and ideas, we can start making a difference. Be it in business, art, science, or charity.

An ecosystem of good efforts.

Our interests span a broad spectrum of cultural and academic institutions, including the Mairea Foundation, known for its world-class architecture and remarkable art collection. Additionally, the Valter Ahlström Foundation grants scholarships each year in a number of technological fields. The Eva Ahlström Foundation is a humanitarian organization that supports women and children through cooperation with established NGOs.

Part of our family network is also several heritage assets, such as Noormarkku works, one of the largest and most impressive ironworks areas in Finland that has been under the Ahlström ownership for more than 150 years.

The Ahlström Collective Impact is our internationally acclaimed initiative where Ahlström businesses, together with the Ahlström foundations, partner with UNICEF. Together, we support the realisation of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals; a way of connecting business with driving change in the global society.
