Noormarkku Church
At the turn of the 1930s, A. Ahlstrom Corporation and the Ahlstrom family were prepared to fund a new church for Noormarkku. The parish had long contemplated constructing a new church to replace the one destroyed in the 1918 Civil War. However, the parish lacked the means to embark on such an expensive undertaking. The company decided to donate 500,000 marks for building the church, with the funds coming from a gift fund established to honor the 100th birthday of Antti Ahlstrom.
The donation came with conditions: the church should be built from stone and according to the blueprints the company had commissioned. In 1928, the company enlisted architect Armas Lindgren to create the blueprints.
Construction of the church began in 1931 and was completed in 1933. The company, along with some members of the Ahlström family, also contributed to furnishing the church. For instance, the first altarpiece was a work donated by Lilli Ahlström and created by Martha Platonoff. In 1957, the then-current company general manager, Hans Ahlstrom, had the altarpiece changed. The new altarpiece, a fresco depicting the Sermon on the Mount, was painted by Lennart Segerstråle.
